The cast-iron tabletop and its two wings are ground to a mirror-like finish with amazing accuracy in flatness. One thing we've always liked about Powermatic's saws is the left-tilting arbor. Tilting the blade to the left--away from the fence--eliminates the need for a sacrificial fence and reduces the risk of the piece binding under the blade. This package includes a 30-inch Accu-Fence, famous for its precision and ease of use, making each job go faster. This fence length is perfect for the home shop where space is an issue and big projects are less common. An interior spring applies constant pressure when not locked down, which takes the slop out of fence movement, improving speed and accuracy. It also has replaceable sides with easy-access screws. Users can adjust the sides so close to the tabletop that laminates will not slip underneath. Initial setup should go faster now that Powermatic has made it easier to align the fence rails parallel to the tabletop.
